Business Travel Insurance
The College covers each eligible employee with business travel insurance in the amount of $100,000. An emergency travel assistance plan is also provided through Worldwide Assistance Services, Inc.
Short Term Disability Salary Continuation
The College provides short term disability salary continuation to eligible employees who have exhausted sick leave benefits. Please contact Human Resources for details.
Disability Income Protection ( LTD)
The College provides a total disability income protection policy. Eligible employees will be covered after one year of employment. The plan provides the benefits described below, which begin on the first of the month following six consecutive months of total disability.
A monthly income benefit which, including income benefits payable from Social Security and Workers' Compensation, replaces 60% of the salary lost due to the disability.
A monthly annuity premium benefit, for those participating in the College's retirement program, which is equivalent to the amount being paid to the TIAA Annuity by a faculty member or administrator as of the date the disability, began.
Liability Insurance
The College carries two kinds of liability insurance of interest to employees. While the sections below briefly describe the coverages, the actual terms of the policies – including all special conditions and limitations are as stated in the policy documents.
General Liability
The general liability policy provides coverage for bodily injury and/or property damage arising out of the premises and/or operations of the College. Included as an insured, at the option of the College, are faculty, employees, student teachers and volunteers while acting within the scope of their duties or obligations in their respective capacities. Coverage is provided with total limits of $16,000,000 and is applicable anywhere in the world.
Educators Legal Liability
The educators legal liability policy provides coverage for losses that result from a wrongful act, as defined by the policy. Included as an insured, at the option of the College, are faculty, employees, volunteers and student teachers while acting within their duties or obligations in their respective insured capacities. The current limit of coverage provided by this policy is $10,000,000 and is applicable anywhere in the world.
