The Immunization Program of the Pennsylvania Department of Health recommends that all colleges and universities adopt a mandatory immunization policy.  Because of this recommendation and the concerted efforts of the American College Health Association and the Centers for Disease Control against preventable diseases, Juniata College has adopted the following immunization requirements:

COVID vaccine: The College encourages everyone to stay up to date with COVID vaccines in accordance with recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control.

Measles Vaccine: Vaccine is mandatory. All college students born after 1956 without lab evidence of the disease should receive two doses of measles vaccine. The first should be on or after their first birthday and the second should be at least 28 days after the first dose.

Rubella Vaccine: Vaccine is mandatory. All entering students should receive one dose of live virus rubella vaccine at twelve months of age or later. Lab evidence of immunity is necessary if immunization cannot be documented.

Mumps Vaccine: Vaccine is mandatory. All entering students should receive one dose of mumps vaccine at twelve months of age or later. Lab evidence of immunity is necessary if immunization cannot be documented.

Meningitis: Vaccine is mandatory to live on campus. A booster is REQUIRED if first dose given prior to age 16.

Tetanus-Diphtheria and Pertussis Vaccine: All entering students should receive a primary series of DTP, DT or Td and a Tdap booster is MANDATORY within ten years of matriculation.

Polio Vaccine: Vaccine is mandatory. All entering students should have received a primary series in childhood and a booster only if needed for travel after age 18.

Hepatitis B: Vaccine series is highly recommended. 

Hepatitis A: Vaccine series is highly recommended, especially if you plan to study abroad

Tuberculin PPD: All students must fill out the TB screening questionnaire, and receive a TB screening test prior to arrival on campus if indicated.
