HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- A Juniata College 2003 graduate from Japan, Michiru Matsumoto, is featured on an international education Web site celebrating International Education Week 2003 (Nov. 17 through Nov. 21). The Web site, http://www.internationaleducationmatters.org, is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the Department of Education.

Matsumoto, who is from Yokohama City, Japan is featured in a lengthy profile detailing her participation in Language in Motion, a language outreach program in which Juniata international students and language majors visit local high school and junior high school language classes in several rural school districts to teach sessions on the cultures of Japan, Germany, Spain and many other countries.

The Web site is created by the American Association of Intensive English Programs. Juniata College is a member of this association and has a thriving Intensive English program. The site was created to underscore the important role that Intensive English Programs play in the U.S. economy and international education.
