Erica Rhodes Hayden to Talk About Her New Book on Troublesome Women

Huntingdon, Pa.—On Monday, April 22, Erica Rhodes Hayden, a 2007 Juniata College alumna who serves as associate professor of history at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tenn., will give a talk about her new book, Troublesome Women: Gender, Crime and Punishment in Antebellum Pennsylvania. Rhodes’ presentation will take place on Juniata’s campus in Neff Lecture Hall,  von Liebig Center for Science, at 7 p.m.

Juniata Student April Wells Wins Newman Civic Fellowship

Huntingdon, Pa.— Juniata College student April Wells has been named a Newman Civic Fellow by Campus Compact, a Boston-based non-profit organization working to advance the public purposes of higher education. Wells is one of 262 students across the U.S. who will make up the organization’s 2019 cohort of fellows. Wells, a junior from Sylmar, Calif., studying communication advocacy and social justice, will use the fellowship to further the work she has been doing surrounding social justice.

Physics Phun Night Open to Community

Huntingdon, Pa. – A Juniata College event aimed at science education outreach—and physics “phun”—will soon provide an opportunity for Joie Escuadro, instructor of mathematics at the College, to lie on a bed of nails. Physics Phun Night, which is free and open to the public, takes place at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 16, in Alumni Hall in the Brumbaugh Academic Center. And Bed of Nails isn’t the only spine-tingling demonstration.
