Juniata College sophomore left fielder Lauren Baker (Susquehannock/Spring Grove), a member of the softball team, and freshman shortstop Marc Frailey (Middletown Area/Middletown), a member of the Eagle baseball team, have both been tabbed as the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week for their respective sports.

Baker helped Juniata to a 3-2 week during the past seven days by batting .412 (7 of 17) with a run scored, an RBI and a double from the number two position in the lineup. She hit safely in all five games on the week. In addition, she walked once and had an on-base percentage of .444.

During a 2-0 win over Lycoming on Monday, she was 2 for 3 with a run scored, and during a 2-0 loss to the Warriors, Baker was 1 for 3. During a 4-1 loss at Susquehanna on Tuesday, she was 1 for 4. On Friday, Juniata swept conference foe Widener with a pair of 1-0 wins. She went 2 for 4 in the opener, including an RBI double for what-proved to be the game-winner. In the second tilt, Baker was 1 for 3 against the Lady Pioneers.

For the year, she is batting .301 with 22 hits in 73 at-bats. She has scored eight runs, belted two doubles and one home run and she has four stolen bases. In the field, Baker has committed just one error in 28 chances.

Juniata, 11-10-1 overall and 3-5 in the Commonwealth, will be in action again on Wednesday hosting conference rival Elizabethtown for a doubleheader starting at 3:00 p.m. The Eagles have recorded the most wins in program history since the 1986 and 1987 squads set a program standard with 13 wins.

Frailey batted .600 for the week (9 of 15) and raised his batting average 89 points during the seven-day stretch.

Included in the productive week, he was a combined 7 for 7 in a doubleheader sweep over visiting Elizabethtown on Saturday and helped the Eagles get back into the playoff picture. In the first game versus the Blue Jays, Frailey was 3 for 3 with two runs scored, including the game-winner in the bottom of the seventh, and a double. In the second tilt, he was 4 for 4 with four singles and an RBI. To start the week, Frailey was 1 for 4 with one run scored against Messiah on Monday and then went 1 for 4 with a run scored against York on Friday.

For the year, Frailey is batting .333 (fifth among the regulars in the lineup) with 20 hits in 60 at-bats. He has scored 10 runs, knocked in four and has three doubles and seven walks.

Juniata, 12-11-1 overall and 5-5 in the Commonwealth, will travel to Frostburg State on Tuesday for a 1:00 p.m. two-game set. The Eagles will journey to Widener on Saturday for a conference doubleheader at 1:00 p.m.
