ALFRED, N.Y. -- The Juniata College women's soccer team fell 3-2 against Oswego State Saturday afternoon in the Alfred University Labor Day Classic.

Juniata (1-1) got its first goal from sophomore midfielder Alicia Snyder in the 59th minute. Snyder capitalized on a penalty kick opportunity created by an Oswego foul within the 18-yard box on Juniata freshman Lauren Liacouras (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley).

Senior forward Nikki Hankinson (New Baltimore, Pa./Berlin Brothersvalley) wasn't fazed by the dwindling time remaining on the clock and scored unassisted with only one second remaining in the game.

Oswego (1-0) took an early lead against the Eagles when Nikki Liadka scored unassisted in the 14th minute. In the 25th minute, Lakers' junior Shelly Bateman found the back of the net on a penalty kick, caused by an aggressive foul called on Juniata sophomore defender Molly Sellars (Caldwell, N.J./Caldwell).

Junior goalkeeper Gabriella Ricciardi (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) defended the Eagles' net for all 90 minutes and tallied 11 saves.

The Eagles continue play in the Alfred University Labor Day Classic on Sunday when they face Potsdam State scheduled with a 12:00 pm start.
