TOWSON, Md. -- Freshman Kate McDonald (Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa./State College Area) scored 14 points and hauled in 14 rebounds to lead Juniata College women's basketball to a 73-54 Landmark Conference win over Goucher College, Friday night at the Decker Sports & Rec Center.

Juniata improved to 13-6 overall with the victory, its third straight and sixth over the last seven games. The Eagles also improved to 5-2 in the Landmark standings. Goucher fell to 2-15 overall, 2-6 in conference play, with the loss.

McDonald made her 14 points on 7-of-16 shooting from the field, pacing a Juniata squad that shot 40.3 percent (25-62) from the field. Six of her 14 rebounds were on the offensive glass, as McDonald completed her sixth double-double of her rookie campaign.

Four Juniata players finished in double figures. Senior Erin McGinley (Ashland, Pa./Tri-Valley) came off the bench to score 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the floor with a perfect 5-for-5 mark at the line. Freshman reserve guard Jordan Hileman (Williamsburg, Pa./Williamsburg) tacked on another 11 points including a pair of 3-pointers, while Jordan Speck (Huntingdon, Pa./Southern Huntingdon) logged 10 points.

Junior guard Ashton Bankos (York, Pa./York Catholic) had five points and three boards, but dished out six assists.

Goucher's Sharnell Huff led the Gophers with 15 points, while Leia Roberts-Brown chipped in with 11. Elizabeth von Ende added 10 points, and handed out four assists. Roberts-Brown grabbed eight rebounds, but Juniata outrebounded Goucher 48 to 30 on the night.

After six ties and four lead changes over the first 16-and-a-half minutes of the first half, Juniata all but buried Goucher with a 13-0 to end the opening frame. That sent the Eagles into the break with a 33-20 lead.

The Gophers cut the Eagles' lead down to five points, 35-30, after Huff's 3-pointer with 17:05 left in the game. McGinley responded with back-to-back jumpers, the latter a traditional three-point play, and quickly had Juniata in front by 10 barely a minute-and-a-half later.

Juniata remained well in front of Goucher the rest of the way, and ended the game with jumpers by Bankos and Alyssia Gordon (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) to post a 19-point win.

Juniata returns to action on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 29, when it faces Catholic University of America. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at the DuFour Center in Washington, D.C.
