HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College field hockey continued its slow advance up the poll while women's volleyball took a little bit of a step backwards, when both teams' national polls were unveiled on Tuesday afternoon.

Field hockey (15-3) climbed one notch to 17th in this week's National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III National Coaches Poll, following wins over Wesley College (Del.) and the University of Scranton last week. Catholic University (12-2) continues to be ranked ahead of Juniata in 14th place.

Juniata field hockey concludes its regular season slate this Saturday, Oct. 30, when it travels to Oneonta, N.Y., to face Oneonta State. It will host a Landmark Conference Field Hockey Tournament semifinal match on Wednesday, Nov. 3, against an opponent to be determined.

Women's volleyball (26-4) fell from first to fourth in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll, on the heels of a four-set loss to then-fourth ranked Emory University (23-4), with wins over fifth-ranked Eastern University (23-3) and Williams College (16-10). Juniata garnered 541 points in the poll, including one first-place vote.

Washington-St. Louis (23-2) regained the top spot with 583 points and 15 first-place votes, followed by Emory with 573 points and four first-place votes. Wittenberg University (25-2), one of Juniata's opponents this week at the Wittenberg Invitational, is third with 556 points and four first-place votes.

Trailing Juniata is Eastern University (23-3) in fifth place with 495 points, with Christopher Newport University sixth with 465 points. Calvin College (22-3) and Hope College (21-4) are tied for seventh with 410 points, with Colorado College (26-5) and Carthage College (22-7) rounding out the top 10 in ninth and tenth positions respectively.
