HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College women's volleyball claimed the top spot while field hockey jumped two places as each team's respective national poll was released on Tuesday.

Women's volleyball (23-3) claimed the number one position in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Top 25 poll, after previously top-ranked Washington University-St. Louis dropped a pair of matches last week. The Eagles received 15 of 24 first-place votes, and had 586 points in the voting.

Washington-St. Louis (23-2) fell to second with six first-place votes and 572 points, while Wittenberg University (22-2) picked up a pair of first-place votes and earned 546 points. Emory University (20-4) was fourth with 535 points including one first-place vote, and Eastern University was fifth with 500 points.

Emory and Eastern will visit Juniata this weekend for the annual Wid Guisler Invitational tournament.

Field hockey (13-3) checked in at 18th in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III National Coaches Poll, after placing 20th in last week's poll. Landmark Conference rival Catholic University (11-2) was also ranked in the NFHCA poll, but fell to 15th after appearing 14th in last week's rankings.

Juniata field hockey will travel to Lancaster, Pa., on Wednesday afternoon to host Wesley College (Del.) in a neutral-site match at Manheim Township High School. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
