HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- The Capitol Steps, a singing troupe of comedians specializing in political musical satire, will be performing live at Juniata College at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 22, in Rosenberger Auditorium in the Hallbritter Center for the Performing Arts.

For tickets and information about the Juniata College Presents series, please call (814) 641-JTIX (5849). General admission tickets for single performances are $20, except where otherwise noted. Single-show tickets for seniors over age 65 and children age 18 and under are $12. Juniata College students are admitted free with a student ID.

Over the past 26 years, Capitol Steps has toured the country offering a funny spin on the scandals, controversy, and comings and goings in Washington, D.C.

Capitol Steps, a group of ex-political staffers encompassing Democrats, Republicans, and independents, turn the latest news into music by mixing pop songs and Washington debacles to create hilarious song parodies.

The group got its start when three staff members of Senator Charles Percy (a Republican senator from Illinois from 1967 to 1985) were planning entertainment for a Capitol Hill Christmas party. Needless to say, they were a big hit and have been performing ever since.

Their latest album, entitled "Liberal Shop of Horrors," and their past holiday release, "Barackin' Around the Christmas Tree," were wildly popular.

In fact, their witty lyrics and sidesplitting performances have been so successful their antics have caught the eye and been featured on "The Today Show," PBS, and other nationwide media outlets. A Washington Post critic writes, "Clapped like mad for the Capitol Steps!â?¦The best musical satire on Washington I've ever seen!"

But, perhaps longtime CNN talk show host Larry King summed it up best when he said after a performance, "They're the best. There is no one like them. No one in their league."
