HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College women's volleyball team will host its third annual "Dig Pink" match at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 29, in the Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center against Elizabethtown College.

The team will be raising money for the Side-Out Foundation and overall awareness for breast cancer by hosting various fundraising activities throughout the night.

The women's volleyball team's efforts begin with sponsorships from many local businesses. The Eagles will play on what will be dubbed "BMZ Law Court" on Wednesday night, and will warm-up in t-shirts sponsored by D.C. Goodman & Sons. The teams will throw out mini-volleyballs to the fans, and the Juniata Eagle mascot will be sporting a Comfort Inn shirt.

Highlights for the evening include the "Domino's Pizza Scream" between sets one and two, in which fans can win a whole Domino's pizza by being the loudest fan in the stands. Following set two, fans can come down to the court for the "Sheetz Serving Contest" to serve volleyballs over the net to win Sheetz t-shirts and gift cards.

On the mezzanine there will be several fundraising and awareness activities. Enter the 50/50 raffle or purchase tickets to win a basket full of gift certificates donated by local businesses, such as Standing Stone Coffee Company, Weis, Giant, Hoss's, Sodexo, the Juniata College Bookstore and more. Be sure to stop by the informational tables for breast cancer education and the Colleges Against Cancer table.

Fans can show their support by purchasing a "Dig Pink" t-shirt for $5.00 at Wednesday night's match, making a a donation to the Side-Out Foundation, or by simply wearing pink.

"Dig Pink" is a national breast cancer awareness fundraiser sponsored by the Side-Out Foundation. The Side-Out Foundation raises money for breast cancer research through volleyball related activities.

Side-Out was founded by Rick Dunetz after his mother, Gloria, was diagnosed with breast cancer seven years ago. On August 20, 2010, Gloria succumbed to breast cancer, so this year's efforts are extra special to Rick and the Side-Out Foundation. Her memory will inspire continued efforts to find a cure for breast cancer.

Three years ago, Juniata hosted the first collegiate Dig Pink event in the nation, when the Side-Out Foundation's national fundraising goal was $500,000. This year, Side-Out is hoping to raise $2.5 million. The Juniata women's volleyball team is looking to contribute $5,000 for the cause at this year's event.
