HUNTINGDON, Pa. - When people recall films, musical theatre, monologues, or dance performances, love scenes tend to stand out; a prime example being the pottery scene between Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze in "Ghost." The Juniata Theatre Department and alumni will perform "Delicious/Vicious," a show exclusively comprised of love scenes at 7:30 p.m. from April 21 to 24.

The play will be staged in the Suzanne von Liebig Theatre in the Halbritter Center for the Performing Arts on the Juniata campus. Tickets for the play are $7 for adults and $4 for students. To inquire about tickets and other information, please call (814) 641-3000. The production is part of Juniata's Liberal Arts Symposium.

The collaboration of new and existing short pieces of theatre will be presented as a series of separate, unrelated acts grouped together on a common stage. All of the selections are based around the theme of passion.

Most of the evening will be comprised of monologues, scenes, movement theatre, mime, and aerial dance that are written or created (or both) by the student actors from Juniata's performance lab class and members of The Gravity Project.

Further works of art that help shape the performances include pieces from musical theatre such as "Chicago," "The Last Five Years," and "Beauty and the Beast," among others. Also, a short Samuel Beckett piece on film will be presented, as well as scenes from "Closer" and "A Food for Love."

Kate Clarke, The Gravity Project academic coordinator and assistant professor of theatre at Juniata College is the director. She has a broad background in professional theatre and came to Juniata after several years as a New York based singer, actress and teacher. At Juniata, Clarke directed "Pippin," "Angels in America" and "Twelfth Night."

The show has many guest artist mentors, most of them also with The Gravity Project, including Nate Dryden, performing artist-choreographer specializing in aerial dance, improvisation, and the Skinner Releasing Technique; Rick Wamer, a co-director for Theatrical Mime Theatre in Tucson, Ariz., and the School for Mime Theatre at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio; Josh Beckel, a 2009 graduate of Juniata who studied performing arts and currently Juniata admissions counselor; Kellyn Miller, a 2008 graduate of Juniata; Yvonne Ng, a choreographer specializing Chinese traditional and minority dance forms, Skinner Releasing Technique, and Deep Listening; and Nathan Wagoner, director of new media communications at Juniata.
