HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Two members of the Juniata College cross country/track and field team, Laura Rupprecht (Jefferson, Md. / Brunswick) and Matt Bailey (East Petersburg, Pa. / Hempfield,) received Division III All-Academic honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.


Rupprecht was one of 188 women's All-Academic honorees from among 92 schools. She was also named to the USTFCCCA All Mideast Region team back in November and the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll in announced in December.

At the NCAA Regional Championship, Rupprecht was the top Juniata finisher of the women's 6K race with a time of 23:08.1, which placed her 33rd in the field. Rupprecht's highlight of her 2009 season came at the NCAA Mideast Championship in the 6K event with a time of 23:08.

Bailey was among 129 men's All-Academic selections from among 70 schools across the country.

Bailey posted a time of 25:58.2 in the 8K race in the NCAA Mideast Regional Championship, giving him a position in the NCAA Division III Championship, where he was the first Juniata runner to compete in the championship. Bailey posted a time of 27:44.0 and finished 217th overall in the 2009 NCAA Division III championship meet. Bailey finished 27th overall at the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships

In addition, Bailey was named to the USTFCCCA All-Mideast Region Team for his 27th place finish at the meet. Bailey was also selected to the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll.

USTFCCCA selections must have a minimum 3.3 cumulative grade point average and finish in the top 35 in their events at their respective NCAA regional championship.
