HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College cross country seniors Matt Bailey (East Petersburg, Pa./Hempfield) and Laura Rupprecht (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) were named to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Mideast Region cross country teams, which were announced Monday afternoon.

Bailey will conclude his collegiate cross country career this Saturday, Nov. 21, when he completes at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships in Highland Hills, Ohio, outside of Cleveland. He earned his berth at nationals with a 27th-place finish at the NCAA Mideast Regional meet, posting a time of 25:58.2.

Bailey is the first Juniata cross country runner to compete at the national championship meet, and is also the first Juniata man to run a sub-26 minute time in an 8K event.

Rupprecht finished 33rd at the NCAA Mideast Regional meet, completing the 6K course in a time of 23:08.1.

Both Bailey and Rupprecht finished among the top five in their respective races at the Landmark Conference Cross Country Championships in Washington, D.C., on October 31, 2009. Rupprecht was second overall with a time of 24:29, while Bailey was fourth with a mark of 27:24.
