HUNTINGDON, Pa.- Juniata defeated Gwynedd Mercy College 4-0 Saturday, Oct. 31, to close its 2009 men's soccer season. With today's win, the Eagles' have seven wins this season, which puts them fourth in terms of total games won.

The Eagles scored early and often in today's contest, placing numbers on the board in the 10th minute of play. Senior Rio Tomlin (Pittsburgh, Pa./ Keystone Oaks) celebrated senior day when he scored his first goal of the season from inside the 6 yard line on a cross from senior Aaron Bray (Greenville, Pa./Greenville).

Just ten minutes later, Juniata attacked again on a Matt Wren (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) blast. Wren received the ball from senior Jordan McGowan (Millerstown, Pa./Greenwood) and beat Griffin keeper John Furphy. This was Wren's first goal of the season.

The second half started with a goal credited to Andrew Steffen (Lewisberry, Pa./Red Land). Steffen deflected the ball in the net when Bray booted the ball from outside the 18 yard box in the 60th minute.

The Eagles added one final goal just seconds after the last. Junior Kyle Roberts (Downingtown, Pa./ Downingtown) scored for the first time this season on a hard blast from outside the 18 yard box in the 61st minute.

"It was a good one for the seniors considering all the hard work and effort they have put in over the years," says Juniata head coach Dan Dubouis. "We put together a full 90 minutes today. They showed up to play today, and it showed."

Junior Brian Trinclisti (Lewistown, Pa./Lewistown) played all 90 minutes in the Eagle goal and recorded five saves. Gwynedd (7-9-2) keeper Furphy recorded nine saves over his 90 minutes in goal.

Juniata outshot the Griffins 23-6 and out cornered them 8-7.

Juniata finishes its 2009 season with a final record of 7-10-0 and a Landmark Conference record of 1-6-0. The Eagles are ranked 7th in the Landmark.
