KINGS POINT, N.Y. -- USMMA's Andrew McKenzie scored in the 82nd minute of regulation to break a 1-1 tied and lift the United States Merchant Marine Academy to a 2-1 win over Juniata College, in men's soccer on Saturday morning in Kings Point, N.Y.

After the Mariners got on the scoreboard in the game's fifth minute on a goal by Kyle Kempinski, Juniata (3-3-0, 0-1-0 Landmark) evened the game in the 65th minute on an unassisted goal by Drew Steffen (Lewisberry, Pa./Red Land).

McKenzie's goal to give the Mariners the lead capped a flurry of shots by Merchant Marine over a four-minute stretch. Clint Foster had a pair of attempts sail wide of the Juniata goal, while Casey Desiderio's shot just seconds prior to McKenzie's goal was above the crossbar.

Juniata had one final quality attempt to tie the game and force overtime, but a shot by Jordan McGowan (Millerstown, Pa./Greenwood) was overthe Merchant Marine goal.

Merchant Marine (6-1-0, 1-0-0 Landmark) outshot Juniata 16-8, and had a 9-0 advantage in corner kick opportunities.

Juniata keeper Joe Kohler (Vienna, Pa./James Madison) played all 90 minutes in the Eagle goal, and recorded six saves. Merchant Marine's Gary Poulin logged a pair of saves in the Mariner goal.

Juniata returns to action this Tuesday, Sept. 22, when the Eagles travel to Williamsport, Pa., to face Lycoming College.
