LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -- Juniata College senior Kelsey Buffenmyer (Mount Joy, Pa./Donegal) set a new personal best with a mark of 5.69m (18-8) in the long jump at Saturday's Lock Haven University Qualifer, reaching the provisional qualifying mark for the 2009 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

According to Division III national performance rankings kept by the website Apple Raceberry JaM, Buffenmyer's effort in the long jump on Saturday matches the ninth-best mark this season. In 2008, the top 23 qualifiers advanced to the NCAA outdoor championship meet. Buffenmyer finished third in the long jump at the Lock Haven meet, and also finished second in the high jump after clearing the bar at 1.60m (5-3).

Among other Juniata competitors in the meet, Amy Reynolds (Harpers Ferry, W.Va./Jefferson) won both the 100m dash, with a time of 13.11 seconds, and the 200m dash with her time of 25.69 seconds.

Stephanie Varner (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) was third in the pole vault with a mark of 3.10m (10-2), and Katie Tavenner (Oaks, Pa./Spring-Ford) was 11th in the hammer throw with a throw of 35.41m (116-2). Kristyn Ginter (Tyrone, Pa./Bellwood-Antis) was fifth in the javelin with a mark of 31.27m (102-7).

On the men's side, Kyle Mazur (Ogdensburg, N.J./Morris Catholic) and Dustin Drake (Mount Union, Pa./Mount Union) were second and third respectively in the javelin, with throws of 62.80m (206-0) and 55.25m (181-3).
