HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- The Juniata College field hockey team secured a berth in the 2008 Landmark Conference Tournament with a 6-0 shutout over Goucher College, Saturday afternoon on Winton Hill Field in Huntingdon, Pa.

Juniata, who started the season 1-6, finished with four wins over its last six contests to finish the regular season with a 7-12 mark, 3-3 in the Landmark Conference.

The third-seeded Eagles will travel to Selinsgrove, Pa., on Wednesday to face no. 2 seed Susquehanna University in the Landmark tourney semifinals. Juniata dropped a 2-1 decision at Susquehanna when the two teams met during the regular season.

Catholic University will host the University of Scranton in Wednesday's other semifinal matchup.

Juniata scored four times in the first half, led by Paula Price's (Camp Hill, Pa./East Pennsboro) goal from Kara Buda (Franklin, N.J./Wallkill Valley) barely 13 minutes into the contest. Erin Smith (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra) fed Molly Snyder (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area) a ball which Snyder finished for her fourth goal of the season, widening the margin to 2-0.

Buda and Caitlyn Bowman (Seven Valleys, Pa./Dallastown) each scored before the end of the opening frame, while Kim Amrod (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) and Brittany Kauffman (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) added goals in the second half.

Juniata senior goalie Abby Funk was tested just once and logged the save in her final appearance on Winton Hill Field. Goucher's Chloe Dircks recorded eight saves in the first half while allowing four goals, while Micki Manheimer played the second half in the Gopher cage and tallied four saves with two goals allowed.
