WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Senior righthander Jason Enoch (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) fanned nine Cardinal batters to lead Juniata College to a 4-1 win over Catholic University on Monday afternoon in Washington, D.C., completing a three-game sweep of the teams' Landmark Conference baseball series. Enoch scattered seven hits while allowing just one walk and one earned run in the complete game victory. Juniata (4-6, 3-0 Landmark) scored all the runs it would need in the second inning, when Adam Spadafora (Asbury, N.J./Pennington School) stroked a two-run double, allowing Andrew Kriss (Forest Hill, Md./John Carroll) and Steve Wilk (Blairsville, Pa./Blairsville) to score. The Eagles added another run in the fifth when John Martinez (Mt. Union, Pa./Mt. Union) reached on an error, and later scored on Dane Ott's (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport) sacrifice fly to center field. A Kevin Small (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North) two-out single in the eighth plated Spadafora for Juniata's fourth run of the game. Catholic (4-7, 0-3 Landmark) spoiled Juniata's shutout bid in the seventh with a single run. The Cardinals' Joseph Devine reached on a one-out single, advanced to third on another single by Patrick Quintana, and scored on Tommy Bowles grounder to short. Catholic burned through five pitchers in the loss, with starter Kevin Sweeney getting charged with the loss after allowing three earned runs on five hits with six walks in his five innings on the mound. Juniata will host Pitt-Bradford in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday, March 18, at Langdon-Goodale Field in Huntingdon. -30-
