HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- To honor International Prayer for Peace Day, there will be a candlelight vigil at Juniata College to pray for peace at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 21, at the central brick walkway on Moore and 18th streets at the entrance to the campus quad.
Several prayers will be read during the vigil. The vigil also honors the beginning of Yom Kippur and recognizes that the month of Ramadan is ongoing.
Also on Friday, the college's Office of Campus Ministry will place pinwheels to recognize the day of peace along Moore Street from the front of Unity House, which houses the campus ministry office, to the Stone Church of the Brethren. Contingents from the Stone Church created pinwheels to stretch from the Stone Curch to the front of Founders Hall. PAX-O, the student club for peace and conflict studies, will place pinwheels from Founders to 18th Street. The campus ministry office and other organizations, in collaboration with the Most Holy Trinity high school class, will make the pinwheels stretching from 18th Street to Unity House.
The pinwheels will remain in place along Moore Street until Sunday afternoon.
