HUNTINGDON, Pa. - Freshman Katie Young\'s (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon) goal in the 76th minute lifted Juniata College to a 2-1 win over Penn State-Altoona, in women\'s soccer action Thursday evening in Altoona, Pa. Freshman Caitlin Bigelow started the scoring play by taking a feed from the middle, and dribbling down to the endline inside the 18-yard box. She crossed the ball to Young, who was by the far post and buried a shot into goal. PSU-Altoona opened the scoring in the eighth minute, when Danielle Ibancich scored off an assist from Allison Thompson. The Lions held that lead into the 42nd minute, when Sarah Ruggiero knotted the game at 1-1 with an assist from Bigelow. \"I\'m really pleased how the girls persevered, especially after going down a goal,\" said Juniata head coach Scott McKenzie. \"We really outplayed them in the second half. \"Penn State-Altoona is a good team, a much improved team. They\'re very physical, and play a style of ball not unlike what we\'ll see when we get in conference.\" Juniata outshot the Lions 23-12, with PSU-Altoona holding a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks. Senior Lisa Russo played all 90 minutes in goal for the Eagles, recording seven saves. Lion keeper Carol Opiela was credited with eight saves. The Eagles return to action when they host Case Western Reserve University on Saturday, Sept. 9, in a non-conference doubleheader with the men\'s team. The women\'s game begins at 1:00 p.m. at Winton Hill Field, while the men\'s game begins at 3:30 p.m. -30-
