MARIETTA, Ohio - The Juniata College men\'s and women\'s soccer teams split the final day of competition at the Marietta College Classic in Marietta, Ohio, with the women pounding Rochester (Mich.) 10-0 to take the consolation match of the women\'s tournament. The men\'s team allowed three goals in the first half of their consolation match against the host squad from Marietta College, eventually falling to the Pioneers, 5-1. In the women\'s match, freshman Caitlin Bigelow (La Mesa, Calif./Academy of Our Lady of Peace) came off the bench to pace the Eagle attack with three goals and one assist - including two goals late in the first half gave Juniata (1-1, 0-0 Landmark) a 3-0 lead at halftime. In the second half, Katie Young (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon) scored a pair of goals to further pad the Juniata lead, while Erin Eddinger (Barto, Pa./Boyertown), Shannon Pierce (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown), Elizabeth Van Blarcom (Columbia Cross Roads, Md./Troy), and Sarah Ruggiero (Bangor, Pa./Bangor) all added one goal apiece. Bigelow put an exclamation mark on the rout by completing the hat trick with a little over a minute remaining in the game. Laura Goodlander (Red Land, Pa./Red Land) logged a pair of assists, to go with her goal in the 27th minute - Juniata\'s first of the game - that proved to be the game-winner. Senior Lisa Russo (Haskell, N.J./Lakeland) started the game in the Juniata goal, but all three Eagle keepers on the roster saw time in goal to earn the shared shutout. The three combined for just three saves on the afternoon, while Rochester keeper Jennifer Stamevski was peppered with 24 shots on goal by the Juniata attack. Goodlander and sophomore back Melissa Johnson (Colonia, N.J./John F. Kennedy) were named to the All-Tournament team. In the men\'s game, Marietta tallied three goals in the first 15 minutes of play, including a penalty kick in the 10th minute, to build a lead which Juniata (0-2, 0-0 Landmark) proved unable to overcome. After the Pioneers added to their lead with their fourth goal of the game in the 54th minute, the Eagles responded barely a minute later when junior midfielder Bryan Hess (Hanover, Pa./South Western) beat Pioneer keeper Kasey Gray with a shot to the left side of the goal. Marietta added a fifth goal in the 69th minute to seal the win. Junior keeper Ted Sonneborn (Syracuse, N.Y./Manlius Pebble Hill) played all 90 minutes in the Eagle goal and made five saves. Gray ended the day with three saves in the Pioneer goal. Hess and freshman midfielder Noah Bowers (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) were both named to the All-Tournament team. The Eagle men\'s soccer team returns to action on Wednesday afternoon when they face Keystone College in La Plume, Pa., at 2:00 p.m., while the women\'s team will head to Altoona to face Penn State-Altoona on Thursday afternoon at 6:00 p.m. -30-
