MEN'S BASKETBALL (4-0): Nov. 28, Penn State-Altoona; Dec. 1 at Grove City.
The Eagles went to the Carnegie Mellon Tournament over the weekend and won the championship at the four-team, two-day outing with a 2-0 record. Juniata improved to 4-0 for the first time since 1958-59 and won a tournament that it did not host for the first time since 1990-91. On Saturday, the blue and gold hoopers owned a comfortable 42-20 lead at halftime against Norwich (VT) and cruised to a 73-49 victory in the opening round. The Eagles shot 49 percent from the floor for the game and forced 16 turnovers by Norwich. Senior forward Dave Reddick (North Hills/Pittsburgh) paced Juniata with 13 points and 12 rebounds. He also had two steals. Sophomore forward Travis Martin (Huntingdon/Huntingdon) posted 12 points and three boards, while sophomore guard Jeff Lau (York Catholic/Glen Rock) and junior guard Joe Kenneff (Manheim Central/Manheim) each netted 10 points. Kenneff also had three assists and two steals. Sophomore forward Ben Gallagher (Butler/Butler) registered eight points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals, and senior guard Shane Crandall (North Allegheny/Doylestown) finished with eight points and four boards. On Sunday, Juniata downed host Carnegie Mellon, 64-43, in the championship tilt of the tourney. The Eagles were down, 24-20, at intermission, but shot 57 percent from the field in the second stanza and limited the Tartans to just 26 percent shooting in the second half and 27 percent for the game. Reddick tallied 13 points and 11 boards, while Gallagher came through with 10 points and gathered in nine caroms. Crandall connected for nine points, including three treys and dished out four assists. Reddick was named the most valuable player of the tournament, while Crandall earned a spot on the all-tournament team for the second straight week.

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL (29-8, 7-0 Commonwealth): Nov. 30 vs. LaVerne (CA), NCAA Semifinals at Wis-Whitewater; Dec. 1 vs. Wis.-Whitewater or Wellesley, NCAA Final or Consolation at Wis.-Whitewater.
Juniata was not in action this past week, but will return to the floor this coming Friday in the NCAA Division III semifinals/finals hosted by Wisconsin-Whitewater. The Eagles will take on LaVerne in the semifinals on Friday at 5:00 p.m. (CST), while Wis-Whitewater will play Wellesley (MA) at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, the championship match will be at 7:30 p.m., while the third-place outing will take place at 5:00 p.m. Juniata is making its 17th appearance in the NCAA semifinals/finals and is looking for its first-ever national championship.

WOMEN'S SWIMMING (2-3): Nov. 30-Dec. 2 at Indiana (Pa.) Invitational.
Juniata had the Thanksgiving week off, but will return to action this coming weekend at the three-day invitational at Indiana (PA).

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL (0-3): Nov. 28, Lycoming; Dec. 1 vs. Delaware Valley (at King's); Dec. 2 at King's.
Juniata opened the home portion of the 2001-02 season on Tuesday and dropped a 77-73 count to Muhlenberg in Memorial Gymnasium. The Eagles owned a 48-36 lead at halftime, but shot just 26 percent from the floor in the second half and committed 23 turnovers in the game. Senior forward Brandy Preslovich (Bald Eagle Area/Moshannon) had 21 points nd 11 rebounds to go with two assists and two steals against the Mules. Junior guard Casey Shoup (Altoona/Altoona) tossed in 13 points and had four assists and three steals. Junior guard Jen LaCount (Westmont Hilltop/Johnstown) came off the bench to score 10 points and come up with three steals, while senior guard Kelli Young (United/Vintondale) had seven points, seven steals and five assists and freshman forward/center Katie Charles (Manheim Township/Lancaster) had eight points and four boards.
