OSHKOSH, Wis. - Juniata College sophomore track and field athlete Kelsey Buffenmyer (Donegal/Mount Joy) placed 14th in the high jump on the first full day of competition at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track And Field Championships Friday afternoon. Buffenmyer was competing at the NCAA Championships for the first time in her career posted a best jump of 1.59 meters of 5\' 2 1/2\" to finish in a tie for 14th position. The top eight competitors in each event earn All-America status at the NCAA Championships. Buffenmyer entered the high jump event as the eighth seed with her best jump of 5\' 6\" earlier in the season. Three other competitors also had 5\' 2\" as their best leaps of the day, but they cleared the height on earlier jumps to tie for 11th at the meet. Jillian Crandal of Wisconsin-River Falls claimed the NCAA Championship in the event with a best jump of 5\' 7\". Juniata will have one more athlete competing at the NCAA Championships when junior Kyle Mazur (Morris Catholic/Ogdensburg, N.J.) will take on the competition in the javelin. ###
