WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - Despite dropping two places in the standings, the Juniata College women\'s swimming team enjoyed another strong day of competition and remains in good position after the second day of the MAC Swimming Championships. Juniata currently sits in fifth place with 240.5 points, 24 points behind fourth place Widener University, and 24.5 points behind third place Lycoming College. Albright College leads the event with 479 points after two days. Juniata\'s best effort of the night came in the final event as the Eagles placed third and picked up 32 points in the 800 freestyle relay. The team of Kasey Brough (Carlisle/Gardners), Amy Sutherland (Norwich/Norwich, N.Y.), Carlie Zoubek (Paul IV/Burke, Va.) and Rachel Almy (Foxcroft Academy/Charleston, Maine) covered the distance in a time of 8:16.85 to earn the third-place medal. The Eagles had three athletes capture points in the 200 freestyle including a pair of top-eight finishes. Sutherland led the way with a fifth-place finish, while Brough was right behind her in sixth position. Almy added an 11th-place effort in the event, to give Juniata a total of 33 points in the event. Kristin Musselman (Central Columbia/Bloomsburg) had the highest individual finish on the day as she touched the wall in fourth place in the 100 butterfly. Juniata had another competitor post a top-eight finish in the 100 breaststroke as Zoubek placed sixth in the event. The Eagles had two other competitors score points in individual competition as Collin Thompson (Altoona/Altoona) earned five points for the Blue and Gold with a 12th-place effort in the backstroke, and Kelly Serfling (Urbanda/Frederick, Md.) placed 16th in the 400 IM to give Juniata one more point. Juniata kicked off the day with a sixth-place finish in the 200 medley relay with a team of Sutherland, Zoubek, Musselman and Colleen Cribbs (Bishop McNamanra/Fort Washington, Md.) bringing in 28 points in the event. The Eagles will complete competition at the three-day event on Sunday as the Blue and Gold look to make up ground and earn their fourth-consecutive top-three team finish at the conference championships. ###
