FROSTBURG, Md. ? The Juniata College women?s tennis team picked up its second-consecutive 7-2 victory, this time claiming the 7-2 triumph over non-conference foe Frostburg State Monday afternoon. Juniata moved to 4-2 with the victory. The Eagles took two of three doubles matches on the day, and then earned five singles victories to secure the win. The first doubles tandem of Caroline Weisser (York Suburban/York) and Maggie Wolenter (Audubon/Audubon, N.J.) posted an 8-3 victory to open the scoring and then Molly Coursey (Westminster/Hanover) and Liana James (Boulder/Boulder, Colo.) capped the doubles success with an 8-2 win at third doubles. Each of those four players then earned wins in singles competition, beginning with Weisser?s 6-2, 2-6, 10-8 victory at second singles. James was forced to a tie breaker at sixth singles but was still able to earn her first collegiate singles win by a score of 7-6, 6-3. Wolenter rolled to an easy 6-1, 6-3 triumph at third singles on the match. Coursey played one spot higher on the singles ladder than her normal spot, but still picked up a 6-4, 6-3 victory at fourth singles. Rounding out the singles triumphs was Ariel Otruba (Mansfield/Mansfield) who claimed a 6-3, 7-5 win at fifth singles. Juniata gets back into action on Wednesday with a crucial match on the road against Commonwealth opponent Lebanon Valley. ###
