SHIPPENSBURG, Pa.? In its final contest before next weekend?s MAC Track and Field Championships, the Juniata College men?s and women?s track and field teams both claimed top-10 team finishes at the Paul Kaiser Track and Field Classic in Shippensburg Saturday afternoon. The Juniata men placed sixth in the 17-team field, while Juniata?s women?s team was eighth among 18 teams.

On its way to the sixth-place effort, the Juniata men posted a pair of school record-break performances. It began with Randy Anderson (DuBois/DuBois) who topped his own school record with a time of 10.73 as he won the 100 meter dash. Also claiming a new record was Tripp Rudolph (Upper St. Clair/Pittsburgh) who finished second in the 800. His time of 1:55.38 bested the previous record of 1:56.25 which was set in 1992.

Also producing points for Juniata on the track were Chris Sheaffer (Central York/York) placed fifth in the 1,500 and Craig Pannone (Wolcott/Wolcott, Conn.) who was seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

The men also had two seventh-place efforts in the jumping events as Anderson placed seventh in the long jump and Matthew Booth (Allentown Central Catholic/Allentown) was seventh in the triple jump.

Records also fell on the women?s side on the track. Katey Glunt (Bellefonte/Bellefonte) ran to a third-place finish in the steeplechase and topped her own school record by more than 10 seconds as she recorded a time of 11:33.57. Meredith Troutman (Meyersdale/Meyersdale) also established a new school record in the 100 as she placed eighth with a time of 12.67. That bested the previous record of 12.69 which was set in 1984.

Also earning points on the track was Aubrey Cypherth (Seneca/North East) who was eighth in the steeplechase.

Off the track, Juniata got its lone first-place effort from Kelsey Buffenmyer (Donegal/Mount Joy) as she placed first in the high jump. She then added a fourth-place finish in the long jump for the Eagles.

Juniata will begin competition at the 2006 MAC Championships on Friday. The meet is being held at Widener University in Chester.
