Juniata 3, Villa Julie 1

Owings Mills, Md. ? Three different Juniata College players scored goals as the Eagles earned their third-consecutive victory by topping Villa Julie 3-1 in field hockey action on the road Tuesday afternoon. Juniata is now 4-5 on the season while Villa Julie fell to 1-6.

The Eagles got started early on and controlled the match throughout. The first goal came off a penalty corner as Elise Zimmerman (Cumberland Valley/Boiling Spring) took a Leslie Stern (Red Lion/Felton) pass and drove it into the goal to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead.

Juniata would add to the lead early in the second half as Lizzie French (Huntingdon/Allensville) scored her second goal of the season off a feed from Meredith Low (Sun Valley/Aston). Low then set up Juniata?s third goal as well as she assisted on a goal from Kim Wagner (Middletown/Middletown) which gave the Eagles a comfortable 3-0 edge with 20 minutes remaining in the match.

The home team added a late goal as Morgan Feehery scored with 15 minutes left in the contest off a Cat Connelly.

Juniata?s defense held Villa Julie at bay the rest of the way as the Eagles claimed the win. The Eagles out-shot the home team 16-4 in the match as Juniata forced Jacqui Healy to make seven saves.

The Eagles return to action on Friday when the team hosts Washington & Jefferson for a non-conference contest.
