Huntingdon, Pa.? The Juniata College women?s tennis team played its tightest conference match of the season Wednesday afternoon, but the Eagles were unable to pull out a victory as the team dropped a 6-3 decision to conference foe Lebanon Valley. Juniata is now 4-3 on the year and 1-3 on Commonwealth action, while Lebanon Valley improved to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in conference.

Juniata got things started by taking one out of the three doubles matches. Ashley Andrews (Altoona/Altoona) and Caroline Weisser (York Suburban/York) claimed an 8-3 win at the first doubles position. Megan Carpenter (Huntingdon/Huntingdon) and Sarah Roby (Red Land/Lewisberry) played a tight match at third doubles before falling 8-5.

Juniata then earned a pair of points in singles action. Weisser posted a 6-3, 6-3 win at second singles, and Molly Coursey (Westminster/Hanover) earned a 6-4, 6-1 win at fourth singles. Andrews extended her first singles match to a third-set tiebreaker, before falling 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (10-5).

Each of the other singles matches were decided in straight sets.

Juniata will be back in action on Thursday with a match at non-conference opponent Penn State-Altoona.
