Penn State-Behrend 2, Juniata 0

Erie, Pa. ? For the second time in as many days the Juniata College women?s soccer team suffered a tough 2-0 set-back at the Penn State-Behrend Tournament, this time, falling to the host team in the consolation match on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles fall to 0-2-1 with the loss, while Penn State-Behrend improved to 1-1.

The home team got unassisted goals early in both the first and second halves to overcome an outstanding effort in net by Juniata keeper Lisa Russo (Lakeland/Haskell, N.J.).

The two teams played a tight first 45 minutes as Russo was forced into three saves while Penn State-Behrend net-minder Dara Nielson made one stop. But the home team found the back of the net in the 13th minute when Heather Crawford scored the first goal of the game.

The second tally came just three minutes into the second half as Nikki Frisbee broke free to make the lead 2-0 at the 47:43 mark. Russo would make seven saves in the final 45 minutes to keep Juniata alive, but the Eagles could not capitalize on any of their three shots in the second half.

Juniata will be back in action next Saturday with an opening day match in a tournament at Penn State-Altoona.
