Juniata 4, Lebanon Valley 3

Huntingdon, Pa.? Playing its third match in three days still did not slow down the Juniata College men?s tennis team as the Eagles claimed their fifth-consecutive victory by outlasting Lebanon Valley College 4-3 in Huntingdon Wednesday afternoon. The win improved Juniata to 5-1 overall, and 2-1 in the Commonwealth Conference. Lebanon Valley dropped to 3-7 on the year and 1-3 in conference play.

Lebanon Valley opened the day by taking two of three doubles matches to claim the doubles point, but Juniata responded by capturing four singles victories to earn the win. Tom Nelson (State College/State College) secured the victory by posting a three-set victory at the fifth singles position. Nelson earned his win by game scores of 6-2, 4-6, 6-2. Also contributing wins in singles play were Brian Sykes (Gateway Regional/Woodburry Heights, N.J.), Dave Bullock (Central Bucks East/Jamison) and Romain Plessis (Catholic University of Lille/Lyon, France).

Sykes picked up his win at second singles by posting a 6-3, 6-2 victory. Bullock moved to 6-0 in singles play on the year with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at the third singles spot. And Plessis captured his fifth singles victory of the season with a 6-3, 6-2 win at sixth singles.

Plessis and Sykes also combined to earn Juniata?s lone win in doubles action as the pair corralled an 8-2 win at third doubles.

The Eagles will look to extend their winning streak on Saturday when they travel to take on Commonwealth Conference opponent Albright.
