San Antonio, Tx. ? The Juniata College women?s volleyball team ended its regular season in fine fashion posting a pair of victories?one over a national top-10 team?to earn first place at the Trinity University National Invitational in San Antonio, Texas on Saturday. Juniata topped 10th-ranked and host Trinity by a 3-1 score in its second match of the day, after earning a 3-0 win over St. Olaf College.

Juniata closes the regular season with a record of 30-3, marking the 34th-consecutive season in which Juniata has won at least 30 matches.

After dropping game one to Trinity by a 30-22 score, Juniata ripped off three-straight wins claiming the final three games by scores of 30-19, 30-21 and 30-24. The victory snapped Trinity?s 18-match winning streak. Carli Dale (Cochranton/Cochranton) and Katie Laucks (West York/York) were both named to the All-Tournament Team for Juniata.

Dale passed out 54 assists to lead the Juniata offense in the match. Katie Charles (Manheim Township/Lancaster) finished with a team-best 19 kills and also led the unit with two blocks.

Tara McMinn (Huntingdon/Huntingdon) and Abby Leonard (Shade/Johnstown) each had 17 digs for the Eagle defense.

Juniata used a few more players in the victory over St. Olaf, taking the match by scores of 30-17, 30-27 and 30-17.

Lindsey Habel (Glen Oak/Canton, Ohio) and Stephanie Kines (Towson/Towson, Md.) were the main attackers for Juniata against St. Olaf as the duo knocked out 11 kills apiece. Dale dished up 36 assists in the match and added a pair of aces.

McMinn led the team with 10 digs and also had a pair of aces in the match. Sophomore middle Allie Phillips (Carlisle/Gardners) paced the defense at the net with three blocks. Phillips also finished with two aces.

Juniata will return to action on Wednesday when the Eagles host Lebanon Valley in a Commonwealth Conference semifinal. The Eagles are the top-seed in the four-team conference postseason, and are looking for their 24th-consecutive conference championship.
