Elizabethtown 9, Juniata 0
Huntingdon, Pa.? The Juniata College women?s tennis team ran into a streaking conference opponent as the Eagles dropped a conference outing to Elizabethtown 9-0 in Huntingdon Thursday afternoon. Juniata dropped to 0-4 with the loss and 0-4 in the conference, while the Blue Jays improved to 9-0 and 5-0 in the conference.

Elizabethtown began by claiming three points on the doubles courts. Molly Coursey (Westminster/Hanover) and Anita Desai (Cumberland Valley/Mechanicsburg) came the closest to a doubles point as they dropped an 8-2 decision at number-one doubles. Megan Carpenter (Huntingdon/Huntingdon) and Jenny Liu (Pennsville Memorial/Deep Water, N.J.) earned one game at third doubles, while Elizabeth Cooney (Forest Hills/South Fork) and Jenna Taylor (Pequea Valley/Narvon) fell at second doubles.

It was much of the same on the singles courts for the Eagles as Elizabethtown controlled most of the matches. Coursey fell 6-2, 6-1 at first singles, and Taylor dropped a 6-1, 6-2 decision at the four spot in the most competitive singles tilts. Cooney, Liu and Carpenter all earned one game at second, third and sixth singles respectively, while Desai was unable to capture a game at fifth singles.

The Eagles will play their first non-conference match of the season on Friday when the team hosts Clarion University.
