Huntingdon, PA - Juniata College senior setter Carli Dale (Cochranton/Cochranton) has been named the AVCA/Sports Imports Division III Player of the Week. Dale also earned Commonwealth Conference volleyball player of the week honors for helping Juniata to a perfect 4-0 record on the week. Dale becomes the second Juniata player in two weeks to earn the conference honor, while the national player of the week award is the second of her career.

Dale directed the Eagles to four victories including three over Division II opponents at the Ashland University (Ohio) Invitational this past weekend. She recorded 40 or more assists in each of the four matches, including a 56-assist performance in a 3-1 victory over nationally ranked Walsh. She was also a strong presence defensively against Walsh with 11 digs, while adding five kills and an ace. She again had five kills along with 46 assists and 10 digs in a 3-0 win over Shippensburg, a victory that earned Juniata Head Coach Larry Bock his 1,000th victory as the women's coach. She dished out 40 assists as the Eagles swept West Virginia Wesleyan 3-0, then tossed out 55 assists in a 3-0 win over Edinboro. She posted 14 digs against Edinboro, along with nine in the win over West Virginia Wesleyan. The 55 assists in the tournament finale pushed Dale over the 5,000 assist mark for her career as she has now tallied 5,044 assists in her three-plus seasons at Juniata. Dale finished the tourney with 197 assists, an average of more than 15 per game. She also was second on the team with 44 digs, and added 23 kills, three aces and three blocks.

Dale is a two-time All-American, including a first-team selection following her junior campaign. She led NCAA Division III in assists per game last season, with a total of 13.55 per game. She ranks second in school history in career assists, and also ranks in the Juniata top-10 in career digs. She is the reigning Commonwealth Conference Player of the Year and this season is averaging 13.88 assists, and 3.96 digs per game.

Juniata is off to a 7-1 start in 2004 and was ranked sixth in the CSTV/AVCA Division III top-25 poll released September 8. Juniata will open conference play against Albright on Tuesday September 13 and then will get a strong early-season test at the Teri Clemons Invitational in St. Louis September 17-18. The tournament field features four teams, including Juniata, ranked in the top 12 of the September 8 coaches poll. Juniata players have been selected for the national player of the week award on nine occasions.
