Juniata's Berkey named Landmark MBB Player of the Week

HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College's Jeff Berkey (Stoystown, Pa./Shanksville-Stonycreek) has been named the Landmark Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, for the week ending December 20, 2009.
Berkey turned in one of the top shooting performances of his career in Juniata's lone game last week, a 75-57 setback to Washington & Jefferson College. He knocked down a career-high seven three-pointers in a 7-of-15 shooting performance from the field, finishing with a season-high 24 points.
The seven treys established a new career single-game high for the senior guard, who also pulled down four rebounds, and added two assists and a steal.
Juniata heads into its Christmas break with a 5-5 overall mark, 1-0 in Landmark Conference play. The Eagles return to the hardwood on Saturday, Jan. 2, when they host Penn State Altoona at the Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center.
