HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- The Juniata College Wind Symphony will perform its "Friends and Family" concert of classical and patriotic music at 7 p.m. Nov. 10 in Rosenberger Auditorium in Oller Hall on the Juniata College campus.

The concert is free and open to the public.

The Wind Symphony will perform patriotic works during the concert, including "Armed Forces Salute," "America," and a tribute to the composer Irving Berlin. In addition, the ensemble will perform "Lincoln Portrait," by Aaron Copland; "Russian Christmas Music," by Alfred Reed; "Elegy for a Young American," written for President John F. Kennedy; and "Adagio," by Joachin Rodrigo. Grace Fala, associate professor of communications at Juniata College, will narrate the Copland selection.

Several Juniata students will play instrumental solos during the concert. They are: Lisa Shaffer, flute, a senior from Birdsboro, Pa.; Lori Scholl, oboe, a freshman from Cheswick, Pa.; Essie Pfau, oboe, a freshman from Bel Air, Md.; Nicholas Patterson, trumpet, a senior from Woodbine, Md.; Nicole Beaver, French horn, a sophomore from Lewistown, Pa.; Marissa Gunn, piccolo, a freshman from Lancaster, Pa.; Amanda Rushnock, chimes, a sophomore from Philipsburg; and Leslie Vogt, bassoon, a freshman from Venice, Fla.

The Wind Symphony is conducted by Diane Bargiel, assistant professor of music, and is comprised of Juniata students.
