Juniata College is very fortunate to have numerous airports in close proximity to Huntingdon, that allows us to offer a limited shuttle service to our students- to help address their travel needs.
The local airports Juniata College will be offering limited shuttle services for students are State College, Altoona, Johnstown and Harrisburg. These airports provided air shuttle connections to major airport hubs for our student travelers.
The Juniata Shuttle is a limited service provided for students at important breaks and holiday travel times. While not a taxi service, the Juniata Shuttle is a coordinated shuttle service that requires students to sign up reasonably in advance for the coordination of limited resources. Also, because of privacy and confidentiality concerns, students must sign up for the shuttle service themselves. Parents and family members are encouraged to make their students aware of this service. Students, however, will need to actually log on to our web form to make reservations. Transportation Options For Students Traveling To And From Campus
Airports
The nearest commercial airport is the University Park Airport, in State College, Pennsylvania. The airport code is SCE. There are flights daily from Detroit (DET) on Delta; from Philadelphia (PHL) on US Airways; and from Washington, Dulles (IAD) in United Airlines.
Other airports include the following:
Johnstown Airport – All flights to and from our airport are via United Express. With flights to Chicago O’Hare (ORD) and Dulles International (IAD), our airport offers you easy access to any destination, domestic or international.
Altoona-Blair County Airport | AOO | Fly Altoona – Altoona-Blair County Airport (AOO) offers travelers daily, hassle-free 60-minute jet service to and from Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). With one-way tickets from just $49, why drive?
Harrisburg International Airport – The airlines at Harrisburg International Airport provide an Altogether Better flying experience to destinations around the world. Allegiant, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, United Airlines all provide service through HIA, including:
- Nonstop service to 17 cities
- One-stop connections to cities around the world
Students who elect to travel through alternative regional airports will need to arrange for ground transportation independently. Juniata’s shuttle does not serve additional airports including those in Pittsburg, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Newark/New York, etc.
In the event shuttle service is not available on your selected date/times, we suggest traveling by train ton and from Huntingdon Amtrak Station.
Please note that you may need to wait for shuttle service upon arrival as not all arrival times are able to be accommodated.
Bus
The Greyhound bus line operates routes to and from State College and Harrisburg.
The Mega Bus line operates multiple routes to and from State College daily.
Train
Amtrak passes through Huntingdon once per day on its way to Philadelphia and New York (in the morning) to the East and Pittsburgh and Chicago (in the afternoon) to the West. Amtrak also makes several stops each day in Harrisburg.

Visiting Prospective Students
Please contact your personal enrollment counselor to help scheduling your visit and arranging possible shuttle transportation to the airports or train stations serviced by the Juniata College shuttle service. Shuttle service available to and from Altoona, State College, Harrisburg and Johnstown
Enrolled Students
Juniata offers shuttle service for the start and end of each semester and for break travel at a nominal fee.
PLEASE NOTE: Shuttles available at designated times so you may have to arrange to depart earlier/later than anticipated.
