Outgoing U.S. Mail

Envelopes

In a tray or box, place letter-sized envelopes, unsealed, with the flaps down. The envelopes will be sealed as they are processed through the postage meter. Envelopes can be sealed OR unsealed, however DO NOT mix sealed and unsealed envelopes. Large, bulky envelopes with short end-openings MUST be sealed by the department. These envelopes cannot be sealed by machine. Envelopes smaller than 3 ½ x 5 will NOT be accepted.

Cards

Cards smaller than 3 ½ x 5 will NOT be accepted.

 

Outgoing International Mail

Mail addressed to countries outside the U.S. must have the address typed or printed in ALL CAPS(see example below). The complete address must include the name of the recipient, house number, street address or box number, city, province and country. All non-English addresses must have an English translation of the destination, post office, province and country. Any mail piece that is larger than a letter will REQUIRE a customs form to be completed. Customs Forms can be picked up at the campus post office.

International Air Mail

Priority air mail reaches its overseas destination in 6-10 days. First class air mail reaches its overseas destination in 5-10 days.

Outgoing Parcels

USPS ⁄ Express Mail - UPS Ground ⁄ Next Day Air

Reusable corrugated boxes may be used, however old addresses and markings MUST be removed. Make sure to pack contents with plenty of packing materials to allow for shifting during shipping. Address information should be printed clearly or typed on an address label and placed in the center of the box top. Use clear box-sealing tape to seal your package (scotch tape and masking tape are not acceptable). Avoid using wrapping paper on the outside of your package.
