In the Fabric of the Woodland

In the Fabric of the Woodland

September 19, through December 13, 2019

Join Artist-in-Residence, Lauren Strohacker, in creating a site-specific community art project that explores our encounters with wildlife — both disappeared and present. Strohacker uses LED message boards to translate regional wildlife systems into scrolling text descriptions. Mobile and placed throughout the landscape, the messages describe animals interacting with each other and their environment. Through public art installations, community workshops, and an evolving exhibition at the JCMA, and with your participation, we’ll conjure the spirits of wildlife past, envision encounters for the future, and celebrate the life-systems supported by the Juniata River Watershed.
