Computer science (CS) is the "classical" study of computing and software design. It
involves the understanding of the machines used for computation and the creation of
new technologies. If you are interested in software development, then a CS degree
is an excellent way to begin.
At Juniata, you'll gain an appreciation for the widespread acceptance of multiplatform,
distributed computing environments. You'll also gain a competitive advantage in today's
business environment through courses featuring hands-on experience, or by working
in the College's Technology Solutions Center.
Many students aren't certain about the difference between Information Technology (IT)
and CS. In many respects, IT & CS have much in common and most technology careers
can be achieved with either degree.

Go Interdisciplinary
The gathering of information technology, computer science (CS), digital media, and various business, communication, and environmental science programs in the recently renovated Dale Hall enables students to understand and interact with their counterparts in other professional careers. Juniata recently created an Integrated Media Arts Program of Emphasis (POE) that combines several aspects of art, communication, and more with IT to prepare students for careers in marketing, filmmaking, website development, and beyond.
