Huntingdon, PA - Juniata College junior basketball player Chris Jasiota (Oil City/Oil City) has been selected to the MASCAC Honor Roll for his efforts this past week in a pair of Juniata wins. Along with Players of the Week for both the Commonwealth and Freedom Conferences, the Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation names three student-athletes to the MASCAC Honor Roll. It is the first weekly conference honor of Jasiota's career, and marks the third-consecutive week that the Eagles have earned one of the spots on the honor roll.

Jasiota helped Juniata open its conference schedule with a pair of victories by recording a pair of double-digit scoring efforts. He began the week by tossing in a career-high 20 points in a win over Susquehanna. Jasiota missed just two shots from the field in the game as he was 9-of-11 shooting, while adding six rebounds, three blocks and two steals. He followed up that performance by scoring 13 points and grabbing another six rebounds as the Eagles downed Moravian. Jasiota provided another pair of blocks in the game and shot 60 percent from the field. For the week he averaged 16.5 points and six rebounds per game, while hitting a remarkable 71 percent of his field-goal attempts.

Despite being slowed slightly by injuries at the start of the season, Jasiota is off the best start of his collegiate career. Through the team's first six games he is averaging 9.7 points per game, which ranks third on the team. He is also third in rebounding, and leads the team with 10 blocked shots. Jasiota is also tops on the team, and third in the Commonwealth Conference in field goal percentage as he is hitting 63 percent of his field goal attempts. His 10 blocks this season have given him 51 for his career, which ranks fifth in Juniata history. He has scored in double figures three times this season, and has at least two blocks in three games as well.

Jasiota's strong start has helped the Eagles to a 5-2 start to the season. Juniata has opened the conference season 2-0 for the first time since the 2002-03 season, and both their losses have come against teams that earned postseason berths a year ago.
