Kelsey is a Colorado born and raised senior at Juniata with a POE in Biology with a secondary emphasis in German who is also studying on a Pre-Physician Assistant track. She chose Juniata because of our dedication to students who have many diverse interests to explore in college.
Throughout her time at Juniata she has had the opportunity to experience semester abroad in Bonn, Germany, where she worked as a nursing intern in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the local University Hospital. She was able to immerse herself in the world of women’s work as an interpreter for patients who could not communicate in English. Upon returning from Germany, Kelsey interned at the University of Iowa, where she was a research assistant in pediatrics researching a specific disease that primarily affects premature infants. In addition to health related hands-on experience, Kelsey was able to research Aquatic Ecology through to her senior year.
In her spare time Kelsey has been the Training Officer for JC Emergency Medical Services and the treasurer for German Club. She is also active in Laughing Bush, a club that organizes hiking trips as well as backpacking trips, and FitLab, a group that combines high-impact interval training, aerobic activity, yoga, as well as meditation.
