Director of Corporation and Foundation Support

Mike is originally from Nanty Glo Pennsylvania, a small coal mining town in western Pennsylvania, but has resided in Huntingdon for over 23 years. In a past career, he co-authored training manuals for the coal industry, shortly after graduating with a BA in English from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown (UPJ). His wife, JoAnn is also a native of Nanty Glo, also a graduate of UPJ and has a Master's degree in Special Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. JoAnn teaches fourth grade at Kistler Elementary School in the Mount Union Area School District. The family includes two children, Katie and Ian Keating, who can usually be found anywhere in the community or on campus where there is a game involving a moving ball.

Prior to joining Juniata in 2002, Mike served as the Executive Director for the Fulton Industrial Development Association and is locally recognized for his sixteen years as the Executive Director of Huntingdon County Business and Industry, Inc. helping to retain, expand and recruit businesses for the counties that he served.

Mike's current role is as Juniata's Director for Corporation and Foundation Support, authoring institutional grants and assisting faculty in the production and management of extramural program and research support. Mike has a BA in English from the University of Pittsburgh, which he received in 1976. Mike is also a graduate of St. Francis University, earning a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA).
