HUNTINGDON, Pa. — Juniata College will host the 2024 Malloy Distinguished Lecture by Erik Haug, vice president of Apex Clean Energy, who will present “The State of Renewable Energy Development in the United States” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 28, in Alumni Hall, Brumbaugh Academic Center.   

This event is free and open to the public and sponsored by the Office of the Provost.   

With over 14 years of experience in the energy industry, Haug is an expert on green energy and joined Apex Clean Energy in 2015. Since then, he has brokered some of the largest national deals in green energy. In his current role, he leads the energy marketing team focused on offtake origination, commercial structuring, negotiations, and transactions at Apex. Haug has successfully built relationships with dozens of leading corporations, universities, and cities, resulting in the execution of more than four gigawatts of power purchase agreements to support utility-scale wind and solar projects in the United States.   

Before joining Apex, Haug held positions as an exploration and development geologist and commercial advisor for ExxonMobil with responsibilities for market analysis, negotiations and transactions, and commercial business intelligence.   

He holds a Bachelor of Science in geology with an environmental concentration from the College of William and Mary and a master’s degree in geoscience from Virginia Tech. His research on landscape evolution driven by hyper-arid climate is published in the journal Geomorphology.  

The Edwin A. & Susan R. Malloy Lectureship Fund was created in 1985 by Edwin A. and Susan R. Rabinowitz Malloy to enhance the quality of life at the College and in the Huntingdon community. Annual income from the endowment is used to bring speakers, organizations, and activities to campus and community, with selected programs including nationally or internationally known speakers, artists, writers, and musical groups.
