Decatur, Il. ? Juniata College junior Kira Troutman (Line Mountain/Valley View) wrapped competition at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships in Decatur, Il. on Saturday. Troutman finished eighth in the second flight of the javelin competition, which was not enough to advance to the finals in the event.

Troutman?s best throw of 127? 10? placed her eighth in the second flight. The Eagle junior?s top throw placed her 12th overall. Her best throw of 141? 6? came at the Susquehanna Invitational in late March. Troutman established new personal bests in several of Juniata?s first outdoor meets, capped by the performance at Susquehanna.

This marked Troutman?s third appearance in the NCAA Championships. As a freshman she became the fifth Eagle woman to earn All-America honors in track as she placed fifth in the javelin that season when she posted a throw of 132? 2?. As a sophomore Troutman finished in a tie for 11th with a throw of 126? 5?.

Troutman earned her first MAC Championship in the javelin this season with a throw of 133? 7?, and also placed fourth in the heptathlon at the conference meet.
