Huntingdon, PA - The Juniata College baseball team earned the rewards from its record-breaking season as the Eagles placed six players on the Commonwealth Conference All-Conference team as chosen by the league's eight head coaches. Juniata placed three players on the first team as senior Eric Hatten (Dubois/Dubois), and sophomores Walt Goedkoop (Manheim Township/Lancaster) and David Saintz (Titusville/Titusville) all received that honor. Senior Adam Camberg (Altoona/Altoona), junior Jayme Fye (Philipsburg/Philipsburg) and sophomore Will Russell (Tyrone Area/Tyrone) were named to the second team. Juniata Head Coach George Zanic was selected as the conference coach of the year. The six players named to the All-Conference squad are the most Juniata has had since the conference began selecting a first, and second team in 1998.

Saintz is the only one of the six to be earning his second All-Conference nod after he was picked for the second-team as a freshman. He was also selected as the conference rookie of the year. He followed that up by hitting .336 this season with 42 hits, 26 runs scored, 23 RBI and a school-record seven triples. He was second on the team in almost every offensive category, while leading the team in triples and stolen bases with 12. He was particularly hot down the stretch as he batted .409 with 12 runs scored, 11 RBI and six triples over Juniata's final 11 games. He was named conference player of the week during the stretch and helped Juniata finish the year by winning 10 of those 11 games.

Hatten was arguably the most dominant closer in the conference during his senior season. He posted seven saves on the year, to lead both the team and the conference, and had a team-best earned run average of 2.25. The seven saves bring his career total to 15 which ranks second in school history. He allowed just four earned runs in 17 appearances this season. He fanned 15 hitters while walking just three. All seven of his saves came in conference outings, and he did not allow an earned run in eight and a third innings of work during conference games. Since taking over the closer's role as a junior he has recorded 14 saves with a 2.25 ERA.

Goedkoop exploded offensively for the Eagles during his sophomore season as he led Juniata in virtually every offensive category. He posted 44 hits on the season, and a .352 batting average. He also hit for power with three home runs, two triples and 15 doubles which tied the Juniata single-season record for doubles in a season. His slugging percentage of .576 led the team, as did his .449 on-base percentage. He was among the top-10 in the conference in each of those statistical categories, including ranking second in doubles. He hit safely in 27 of Juniata's 38 games, and had at least two hits 14 times. He was the only Eagles to start all 38 games this season.

Camberg receives his first All-Conference recognition as a senior. Serving as the team's designated hitter, he pounded out 28 hits on the year. He ranked second on the squad with 11 doubles, and was tied for third with 15 RBI. He crossed the plate 15 times during the season, and tied for the team lead with 21 walks. He had at least two hits five times during the season, including three three-hit games. In his two seasons as the team's regular DH he knocked out 57 hits with 43 RBI and two home runs.

Fye solidified his position as one of the top starters in the conference during the 2004 season. He led the team with six wins and 61 and a third innings pitched in 2004. His ERA of 4.38 was third-best among the Eagle starters and he struck out a team-high 37 hitters on the year. He was named the conference pitcher of the week once during the season, after earning a win and a save in a pair of conference games in the same week. Five of his six wins came in conference outings, and his ERA dropped to 3.72 in Commonwealth contests. He had a pair of complete-game conference wins during the season, and allowed three or fewer earned runs in seven of his nine starts during the year.

After an injury plagued freshman season, Russell was a force for the Eagles as the team's starting second baseman. He hit .307 on the year and was tied for second on the unit with 42 hits. He also showed surprising power as he drilled three home runs on the season which tied for the team lead. He added 14 RBI during the year along with 16 runs scored and five stolen bases. He hit safely 26 times during the season with 13 multi-hit games. Russell had an eight-game hitting streak during the year, along with a pair of five-game streaks. The sophomore also showed a knack for late-inning heroics as he posted a pair of walk-off hits during the season.

Juniata is preparing to enter the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time since 1990 after claiming the Commonwealth Conference Championship. Juniata holds a record of 24-14 which established a new program record for wins in a season. The Eagles finished the regular season 21-14 overall and 14-7 in the conference before posting three victories in the conference tournament. Juniata will play a non-conference game against Frostburg State on Saturday, before the NCAA Tournament brackets are released on May 16.
