4/13/04--Selinsgrove, Pa.? The Juniata College men?s tennis team was unable to snap out of its recent struggles as the Eagles fell to conference opponent Susquehanna 6-1 in Selinsgrove Tuesday afternoon. The match was moved into the Garrett Sports Complex due to heavy rains outside. Juniata is now 2-6 on the year and 2-5 in conference play, while Susquehanna improved to 4-3 on the year and 3-2 in the conference.

Juniata?s lone point came at the second singles position as senior Satoshi Kimura (L.B. Pearson College (CA)/Nasano, Japan) claimed a 6-1, 6-0 victory. The win was Kimura?s third singles victory of the season in what could be Juniata?s final regular season match. Another Eagle senior nearly claimed a win at the fourth singles position with Scott Noerr (Leiwstown/Lewistown) falling in three sets. Noerr won the first set 6-1, before dropping the next two 6-2, 7-5. Each of the other matches were decided in straight sets.

On the doubles court Susquehanna took the point by earning 8-2, 8-6 wins at second and third doubles respectively. Juniata?s doubles win came at the first spot as Kimura teamed with Neil Eicher (Altoona/Altoona) to capture the 8-3 win. The victory was the fifth doubles win for Eicher and the fourth for Kimura this season.

Unless previously postponed matches are rescheduled, Juniata has completed its regular season. The MAC singles and doubles championships will be April 24-25.
