Junior Tim Dobson (Millville/Milleville, NJ), a first baseman on the baseball team, and freshman Amy Gable (Kennard-Dale/Stewartstown), an outfielder and pitcher for the softball team, were named the Juniata College "Athletes of the Month" for March.

A power hitter for the Eagles, Dobson has been a key performer for the Juniata diamond squad since setting foot on College Hill. On March 6, during a 10-0 victory against Bluffton in Sarasota, Fla., he was 3 for 4 at the plate. Of his three hits, one was a home run and he was also able to leg out a triple. For the day he had three RBI and scored two runs. On March 14, in a 10-10 tie with Dickinson, he went 2 for 4, with three RBI, two walks and one run scored. On March 24 during a doubleheader loss to Lebanon Valley, he was involved in five of the nine total runs on the day for Juniata. In the first game of the twin bill, he once again was 3 for 4, including a triple and double, while scoring two runs for the Eagles. In the second contest, he went 1 for 3 with three RBI.

For the month he amassed five home runs and 19 RBI to lead the Eagles in both categories. Even with the solid power numbers, he hit for average as well (.396). Dobson also had four doubles in March.

For the year, Dobson is hitting a team-best .397 and leads the unit in RBI (22), runs scored (17), hits (27), doubles (6), triples (2) and home runs (6).

The Eagles are currently 10-10-1 on the season and will host York (Pa.) on Friday for a 2:00 p.m. single game.

One of Gable’s best overall performance for March came in a 7-3 victory against Chowan. She finished the contest with two hits in her four plate appearances. Included in her statistics were two RBI and a double. She also pitched a complete game for the Eagles, got the win, gave up three earned runs, struck out two and scattered seven hits throughout the Chowan lineup. At the plate, she saved her month's best for last when she went 4 for 4 in a 6-6 tie at Susquehanna on March 28. During the contest she scored two runs and stole two bases while raising her batting average 71 points (.341).

For the month Gable batted .341 with two doubles and a triple. She knocked in six and has scored 15 runs for the Eagles. On the mound, she allowed 11 earned runs in 22 innings pitched and had a 3.50 earned run average. In addition, Gable struck out five and posted a 1-2 record.

Gable will take a 12-game hitting streak into Friday's doubleheader with visiting Widener. She has helped Juniata to a 9-10-1 overall record with her .392 batting average on the year. Gable also paces the unit in hits (29), runs scored (18) and doubles (5).
