HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- The Juniata College Department of Accounting, Business and Economics was granted accreditation for its business and management programs by the board of commissioners of the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education at the group’s annual December meeting.

“Accreditation for an academic department or a business school gives incoming students and graduates the confidence that Juniata’s business majors are receiving a rigorous, wide-ranging and ethical education,” says Dominick Peruso, professor and chair of accounting, business and economics.

This is the first accreditation for the college’s business department.

In order to qualify for accreditation Juniata’s business faculty compiled a rigorous self-evaluation and completed a vigorous peer review.

In addition, the department demonstrated that Juniata’s programs comply with IACBE’s accrediting standards in the following categories: Outcomes Assessment, Strategic Planning, Curriculum, Faculty, Scholarly and Professional Activities, Resources, Internal and External Relationships, International Business Education and Educational Innovation.
