HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- The Juniata College Wind Symphony will stage its eighth annual High School Honors Band and Wind Symphony Spring Concert, playing selections from classical composers at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, April 6 in Rosenberger Auditorium in Oller Hall on the Juniata College campus.

Tickets for the concert are $6 for adults, and $3 for children under 18 and Juniata students with student IDs.

James Latten, assistant professor of music at Juniata and director of the wind symphony, has chosen 63 outstanding high school instrumentalists from Pennsylvania (many of them from local high schools), Maryland, Virginia and New York.

In the first half of the concert, the Wind Symphony will perform "Shenandoah," by Frank Ticheli, and "Scenes from the Louvre." In addition, a small chamber group of wind symphony members will perform "Old Wine in New Bottles." Percussionists from the wind symphony and honors band will play "Sabre Dance" by Khachaturian.

The latter half of the program features the wind symphony and the honors band performing a variety of works, including "George Washington Bridge," by William Schuman; "Sea Songs," by Ralph Vaugh Williams; "Mars (from 'The Planets') by Holst; and "The Whip and Spur March."

The Wind Symphony is conducted by James Latten and is comprised of Juniata students.
